That's right, sorry.
I was exhausted at that point. After a snooze, that is right :)

Still doesn't change anything -- I will be here NEXT saturday, (or rather, at my grandparents house pre driving to Maiquetia Airport Monday) but not NEXT AFTER NEXT Saturday 5th -- I will likely be driving up the Interstate 95 from Miami to Fort Lauderdale at 17z!

Enjoy the seaplane ride, folks :)
Don't bother changing the date. I can't come the previous Saturday or the followung Saturday either.

A short notice about the Seedrache ... she flies ... she only crashes when she touches water because I can't make her realize, she is a boat ...
So, I maybe can grind out one day time to play around with her. Otherwise, I fly the PBY-5a, that is the Catalina with the changes I made earlier to make her flyable again for the USA Tour.

Cool JWocky. I have you confirmed in the PBY-5A
If you get to fix the Seedrache on waterlanding, and you are bringing her... shot me a note ;)
(Both PBY and dragon are very cute, and I like'em both)

Docking Posititions

Hi Everyone
Last lap to the USA tour this Saturday , March 5th

I will begin by assigning river docking positions.
As mentioned earlier, the initial idea was to launch in the Carter Lake
Image
Which is just in the vicinty of Eppley Airfield (KOMA) and take off from there.

But unfortunately this Lake is NOT simulated in Flightgear scenery.

So we will resort to PLAN B, and we will dock in the Missouri river, which also border, not only the city of Omaha, but also the Eppley Airfield.
Image

The river actually offers us in FlightGear a really straight strip that is perfect for the take off (run) swim.

Below, please find docking positions (as lon, lat, heading coordinates)
These docking positions will allow us to launch FlightGear while floating in your boat in the river. And it will allow us to be prepared for the take off, which will need to be either North or South direction. Preferentially North, from our docking positions.

Code: Select all

--lon=-95.88707100 --lat=41.31550339 --heading=50 #Lesbof
--lon=-95.88749872 --lat=41.31590092 --heading=50 #IH-COL

Last lap in preparation for the USA Tour Leg 45th

We are meeting this Saturday (March 5th) to fly flying Caravels, to Milwaukee, Wisconsin

This is a list of Confirmed Aircraft. I encourage everyone to prepare by installing these, and avoid yellow gliders or delays.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

IMPORTANT NOTIFICATIONs:

* If you download the files with the zip snapshot listed above, rename the folder of the aircraft by removing the "-master", examples, after unzipping Albatross-master, rename to Albatross
* The aircraft indicated with GIT* can also be obtained using git repository FGDATA Next generation with submodules. The branch in this event is currently the default branch being checkout by the repository. Just update the respective submodule if not done already

Code: Select all

Aircraft/PBY-Catalina  # IH-COL, JWocky
Aircraft/Albatross # MV-DP, Skyboat
Aircraft/DO-J-II # Legoboyvdlp
Aircraft/Bombardier-415 # swamp
Aircraft-nonGPL/FW-58-Wasser # Lesbof, iT0uchpods
Aircraft/dhc3 # Side
Aircraft/Seedrache-JSB # JWocky (?)

Hmmm in my scenery, a portion the arc of the Missouri East of the Airport is overlapped by most of the airport greenspace. How about using Lake Manawa to the S-SW?

yes. The river is overlapped by the airport South of our starting positions. But the river offers plenty of take off space North of our starting position.

....

Looking for Lake manawa. Haven't seen it.
I used an ufo to explore FG terrain around KOMA for quite some area, and couldnt find anything more appealling for the take off that the river itself.
But, if there is a good lake, I wont be opposed to reconsider another launch site (if this is reasonably within distance of KOMA) :D

I found Lake Manawa. It is a really good alternative launch option. It provides us with many more take off directions than the more straight river.

as you see in the image above, the river offers us (at least in my scenery) a good patch of straight river that I have used for taking off comfortably several testing times last 2 weeks.

I am open to either, actually! :D
