If we gave everybody in the World free software today, but we failed to teach them about the four freedoms, five years from now, would they still have it? Probably not, because if they don’t recognise their freedoms, they’ll let their freedoms fall

A review of the games

As we arrive to the Midpoint of the FACCT I/2017, the third round offered really interesting games, you can review below

BLITZ

Omega (ujeqaf) - IAHMCOL (IAHMCOL resigns)
http://ficsgames.org/cgi-bin/show.cgi?ID=415502180
Image

Code: Select all

IAHMCOL comments: 37... Re7?? {Ooops}

JWocky - Omega (ujeqaf) (JWocky checkmated)
http://ficsgames.org/cgi-bin/show.cgi?ID=415502899
Image

Code: Select all

IAHM-COL comments: 5. Kd2?? {It relinquishes Queen on f3}

Jwocky - IAHMCOL (JWocky checkmated)
http://ficsgames.org/cgi-bin/show.cgi?ID=415503276
Image

Code: Select all

IAHMCOL and Jwocky comment: really strong game by JWocky, but 21. Qxa8?? {It fails to notice the executed treat to f2}

STANDARD

The Standard game was played on Friday at 17UTC, due to schedules incompatibilities by JWocky, and Keith agreed on playing this challenge on advance.

KeithHadden-JWocky (KeithHadden checkmated)
http://ficsgames.org/cgi-bin/show.cgi?ID=415471833
Image

Code: Select all

IAHM-COL comments: This was a really interesting game on which JWocky played relentless, maintaining suffocating pressure, and taking massive advantage of just two different pawn moves by Keith. In addition a couple of alternative mates JWocky could have played are noted in the game database PGN files in github

Thanks guys for a really amazing Airport Cafe Chess Tournament with really strong games so far,
Looking forward to the concluding half.

Best,
IH-COL
R.M.S.
