One argument I have against both the Slack server and Discord is that development happens behind a registration screen.

Example, even if you dont have a registration to github, you can still read and follow and study what development (discussions/comments/lessons/suggestions/etc) happens in the aircraft. Or even if you don't have an account in this forum, information is there freely accesible to all [subscribers and not].
Both in Slack and Discord you need to register to access the goodies.

I like openness.
