Truth is that on the general good, a certain degree of specialization is not undesirable. Lego is great on WED, and I'm not so much (I'm super slow... If you think about it, I spent 2 weeks just making RJBB layout)

If you look at it in that way most of the newer airports have single runways.
It is mostly because of lack of available land area, and the high population.(2nd highest in population)
VOBL inaugurated in 2008 has single runway too.

UPDATE I think the reason why ogrdecode gets killed on osm roads is because its running out of memory.
