Re: ET302 crash taking off

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/16/business/boeing-max-flight-simulator-ethiopia-lion-air.html For many new airplane models, pilots train for hours on giant, multimillion-dollar machines, on-the-ground versions of cockpits that mimic the flying experience and teach them new features. But in the case...

Re: ET302 crash taking off

https://www.seattletimes.com/business/boeing-aerospace/failed-certification-faa-missed-safety-issues-in-the-737-max-system-implicated-in-the-lion-air-crash/ Like all 737s, the MAX actually has two of the sensors, one on each side of the fuselage near the cockpit. But the MCAS was designed to take a...

Re: ET302 crash taking off

From my further understanding based off of actual B737 pilots from YouTube, MCAS isn't full time, it only activates only certain parameters of flight under very specific conditions. And, if these pilots are to be believed, they could be overridden only assuming the pilots know what they are doing. T...

Re: ET302 crash taking off

If it's to be believed the PIC had 8000hrs experience but only started flying B737s for a little more than a year. The second officer only had like 200hrs overall. If true, I'm sure this is something they are also looking at?

Re: ET302 crash taking off

http://www.b737.org.uk/mcas.htm This site offers some really technical details on MCAS. http://www.b737.org.uk/images/mcas-diagram.jpg I had assumed that the AoA source for MCAS was always the Captains AoA probe but the following explanation from an engineer suggests that it alternates between AoA ...

Re: ET302 crash taking off

Why the hell is automatic system "stronger" than pilot's input ? The ages old question of whether the philosophy behind "fly-by-wire" or "die-by wire" technology is fundamentally sound, or not. Yes, whatever happened to pilot having the ultimate control? Boeing screwed...

Re: ET302 crash taking off

eerily, these two crashes are similar enough to be hair-rising. The main difference being that for JT610 Lion Air, they should have grounded that particular problem Max in the first place. Instead they continued on, and compounded the problem even though they went through the maintenance check. (Ha...

Re: ET302 crash taking off

This is ridiculous. Now I'm angry. As I've always said, new isn't better, it just means new unknowns. Now we have this unknown.
