Re: Beagle Pup Development [crossposted]

This subject is really hard to follow in two threads. Yes, it has got a bit confusing. This is supposed to be my development thread for the Beagle Pup. As such it is just as likely to have updates about the electrical system or new instruments as FDM work. The other thread is the "experiment&q...

Re: Beagle Pup Development [crossposted]

I've corrected my erroneous htail/vtail areas, run the parameters back through Aeromatic++ and tuned the drag to maintain the same performance as 0.26.0. I haven't done a lot of testing and overall the feel is similar but I can see that the tendency to blow over is somewhat reduced and the onset of ...

Re: EnginePowerVC - function

I haven't tried it but I think you'll just need to do something like: <function name="EnginePowerVC"> <table> ... </table> </function> Obviously you'll need same for each table that is not wrapped in a function tag. Look in the comments at the top of the file for examples. https://github.c...

Re: Beagle Pup experiment

Thanks for your advice regarding the kinematics. I never fly with the keyboard so I wouldn't have noticed. In flight it feels much too responsive; almost massless with no inertia (which I know isn't true because I've seen your inertias and they are the same as mine); so maybe it's the p,q,r damping ...

Re: Beagle Pup experiment

Wing incidence I now have at 0; but adjusted the tail to 1.9 (leading edge down) take this into account for stability purposes however it's not going to be quite right - I did it like this after getting very confused about whether or not I needed to use wing alpha or FRL alpha for the coefficient b...

Re: Beagle Pup experiment

@Richard: can we cross-check some numbers? My main sources are http://www.pilotfriend.com/aircraft%20performance/Beagle/Beagle%20Pup%20100.htm and http://www.bobthebeagle.co.uk/specifications/. (All the Pups are identical behind the firewall). Wing area: You have 115.27. I have 119.5. Dihedral: You ...

Re: Side

Usually the forces are denormalized with wing surface area, and pitch uses wing surface area and wing chord, roll and yaw use wing surface area and wing span. Ah OK, I understand. It's just a convention for scaling the coefficient based on a broad brush measure of aircraft size. So the numeric coef...

Re: Beagle Pup Development [crossposted]

The numbers in my engine are out of the manual, including minmp and maxmp. See page 109: http://www.culvercadet.com/manuals/C85_overhaul_manual.pdf Where not specified in said manual I used JSBSim defaults as listed in http://jsbsim.sourceforge.net/JSBSim/classJSBSim_1_1FGPiston.html Idle speed is s...
