Yes it was a great event again. Good atc at a good distance (LSGG-LOWW). Unfortunately i only found out sunday how nice LSZS is.
Also the pilots seemed all good. At least the ones i watched landing. But the atc's will know best.
Kind regards, Vincent

Re: As the poll for FG Festival Spring Festival 2016 comes close
Japan is quite good, with a high density of large airports and great landscape (mnt. Fuji). Those who like longer distances just skip a few airports. Japan is quite long. As an alternative there is indonesia. Fly Java and see great landscapes, and some big airports. Not as dense as Japan though. Kin...

Re: Plane Crash in Egypt - 224 Dead
Yes, a 3 km separation does not seem to be from full alt (fl 300). On the other hand leaks of the boxes say that everything was normal, and then it stopped suddenly. This indicates an immediate cut of the cables to the boxes at the start of the problem. So what cuts the front from the back and does ...

No, a few km away from the main debris, but without a trace of the horizontal stabilizer, as said before.

Re: Plane Crash in Egypt - 224 Dead
Please people, try to understand that ads-b data is NOT suitable for inspecting a period of seconds. It is probably accurate over a mean period of minutes. The reason for this is that minimal and incomplete data is sent. The rest is calculated together with previous transmissions. This way a reasona...

Re: KL-666's Map of developed Airports
Thanks for enjoying the map. I fear that i can not update the map before the festival this month. To update i need the shape files from http://mapserver.flightgear.org/shpdl . But that site is momentarily broken, stating: "Service degraded due to disk failure". For the festival i have adde...

Re: Plane Crash in Egypt - 224 Dead
Yes indeed pretty much intact minus some rear section. Then add to that a breakup after some dive at lower alt and fire while still in the air, and then make something of it.... Anything could cause that, also the mentioned uncontained engine disk failure. I'll wait for some more information of the ...

Re: Plane Crash in Egypt - 224 Dead
Just a remark on the "wide" debris field. I heard that the Lockerbie field was at least 4 times as wide. So that would plea for a lower altitude breakup. [edit] The word "impact" in "'external mechanical impact" is made up by some journo. The actual word was something l...

Re: Airbus vs Boeing -- Airbus wins, any day
The AirAsia report is postponed all the time since june, but i expect it any time within a few month now. It probably will be yet another case of inadequate training for too much change in behaviour at a critical moment. But we can not be sure until the report comes out.
